Samurai Karate Studio to Offer Free Stranger Danger Workshop

Columbia, SC, June 02, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Sensei Chris Feldt, owner and chief instructor for Samurai Karate Studio, located in Richland Northeast Columbia, South Carolina, announced today that his school was offering to host a free stranger danger workshop for children on Saturday, June 9th at 12pm.

"Now that school is out, our children will be playing outside more and are potentially more at risk for abduction," commented Feldt. "It is my goal to help parents and child understand the risks and to develop a strategy to be safe."

During the workshop, children will learn the definition of a stranger, using different kinds of examples, learn what the big tricks are that strangers use to lure children, learn how to be more aware and use your voice and to show a few simple techniques that children can use to counter a larger, stronger adult trying to take them.

"I tell parents the number one way to keep your child safe, is to keep your eyes on them at all times," stated Feldt. "However, as parents we know that is not always possible, so my goal is to try and teach the child and the parent, what research tells us is the best way to neutralize a bad stranger."

The workshop is open to children 5 years of age and older. The workshop will begin at 12pm and last 30-45 minutes depending on the attendance.

While the workshop is free, donations are being accepted to support The Samurai Foundation, a non-profit organization created by Sensei Feldt to help educate and support individuals that deal with bullying and domestic violence.
