Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Will Celebrate Marlborough’s New Downtown Park

Marlborough, MA, June 04, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Marlborough Mayor Arthur Vigeant will officially open a new downtown park to the public during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 167 Main Street, at 5 p.m. on Monday, June 11. Mayor Vigeant will be joined by city officials and business leaders, as well as the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce. The press is invited to observe and take pictures of the event.

In late May, landscapers cleared away overgrown brush and planted shrubs and trees to transform the lot that had been vacant for nearly two years. And they added six picnic benches for ample seating and a white fence that provides the park with a clean backdrop. The work was made possible through a public-private partnership between Marlborough Economic Development Corporation and Marlborough Savings Bank.

“I’m happy to see that this beautiful area is already being utilized by our residents during their lunch breaks or as they relax and enjoy the weather during their strolls through downtown,” said Mayor Vigeant. “It’s important to recognize the collaborative efforts of the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation and Marlborough Savings Bank who worked hard to beautify this once underutilized area to better serve our community.”

The ceremony will take place nearly two years after a June 2010 restaurant fire destroyed a building once located at 167 Main Street.

The event will occur as the city prepares for the annual Taste of Marlborough and Brewfest, which begins at 5:30 p.m.
