Denver Band Two Fisted Tango Releases New EP, Sings Praises of Summer Travel, London Olympic Games
Denver, CO, June 06, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Summer travels could be greatly augmented by some music about travel. Denver band Two Fisted Tango released their self-titled EP on May 1, 2012, and wants those songs to be a travel companion along the way. Travel locations featured in their self-titled EP include the Middle East, and specifically, London. Themes include breakups abroad, transposing personal views, and living other lives through travel.
As the Summer Olympics in London nears the band is pushing a song that nicely dovetails into the theme of the 2012 Summer Games. “I heard the flagship song for the 2012 Olympics will be the ‘London Calling,’ by The Clash. This made me immediately think of our single ‘Brit Punk Rocka’,” says Joey Boots, front man for Two Fisted Tango. For anyone traveling to the Summer Games, this song might be the perfect tune for imaging some travel in London. Their website also showcases a video for the song that features a six year-old punker terrorizing band members. The band has another song "Three Rings" which sounds like it might be related to Olympic Rings but is in fact about a the distance between lovers in relationships gone wrong.
Two Fisted Tango write what they describe as travel music. More specifically it is high-energy indie music about travel. The band makes references to The White Stripes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and throwbacks to the classic notion of The Clash.
They will be playing the entirety of the first album plus more songs at their EP release show Thursday, June 28th, at Hi-Dive, 7. south Broadway, Denver, 9pm. That show also has The Sickly Ferguson, Torsion, and Green Horses slated to perform.
Two Fisted Tango is based in Denver, Colorado, but they would rather be somewhere else. They very much like Denver, their self-proclaimed hometown, but this band sees travel as an integral part of an ideal life. “It’s worth singing about. It’s worth singing along to. It’s worth it to travel,” says Joey Boots. Inspired from personal travels in Asia, main songwriter Joey Boots returned home after a 2010 sabbatical with a head full of song ideas. Those ideas influenced what is in the EP.
The band consists of Alejandro Parra (guitar), Joey Boots (vocals, rhythm), Vic Staufenberg (drums), and Zac Wright (bass). They also show a diverse composition in members. Alejandro Parra migrated from Venezuela in 2007 and has been playing locally ever since. “I’m always excited when Two Fisted Tango plays live. The whole process of finding a song and making it yours is great, and it’s even better to share on stage.”
The EP was recorded at local spot Steele Street Studios, and Mixed by Dustin Peterson. The Two Fisted Tango EP is available now on iTunes and Spotify.
