The Chef’s Academy Students Participate in 2012 Future of Hospitality Golf Classic
Culinary Students Volunteer Alongside Local Triangle Restaurants at Annual Fundraising Event Hosted by North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association
Raleigh, NC, June 06, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Chef’s Academy (http://www.thechefsacademy.com), the Culinary Division of Harrison College, a 110-year-old, nationally accredited institution that offers 40 degree programs in five schools of study, has announced that its students will work with local restaurants during 2012 Future of Hospitality Golf Classic on Monday, June 4 with all benefit proceeds going to the NC Hospitality Education Foundation (NC HEF). Each year, event proceeds benefit the NC HEF to provide scholarships and grants to students and teachers interested in North Carolina’s hospitality industry. The NC HEF foundation, which was established in 2003 by the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association (NCRLA), is dedicated to cultivating an educated and professional workforce for restaurants, lodging and tourism. This year marks its tenth annual fundraising event at North Ridge Country Club, located at 6612 Falls of Neuse Rd. During the classic, local restaurants will have tents set up along the course with students from The Chef’s Academy assisting in both the setup and serving of food to participating golfers.
Several students of The Chef’s Academy will have the opportunity to host a food station, providing them with a chance to participate firsthand in an accomplished fundraising event. The annual Future of Hospitality Golf Classic will have tent stations from several renowned local restaurants including Big Ed’s City Market, 42nd Street Oyster Bar and Grill, Foster’s Market, Café Caturra, Backyard Bistro, Cantina 18, Rockwell’s American Grill and Tribeca Tavern.
Quotes:
“To participate in the 2012 NC HEF’s annual Future of Hospitality Golf Classic is an exciting opportunity for The Chef’s Academy and its culinary students, as it provides our students with a fun, educational experience in which they can both learn from and network with local culinary professionals,” said Jayson M. Boyers, national division president of The Chef’s Academy. “Our goal at The Chef’s Academy is to afford students the opportunity to take their classroom knowledge into the real world and be more thoroughly prepared for their careers after graduation.”
