Second Annual "Rosanne’s Rush for Research 5K Run/Walk" to Raise Funds for Triple Negative Breast Cancer Research

Nashua, NH, June 06, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The second annual Rosanne’s Rush For Research 5K Run/Walk will be held at 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Nashua High School South in Nashua, NH. The scenic course will wind through the trails of Mine Falls Park. Money raised will be used to fund research for the treatment of Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC). One hundred percent of the net proceeds raised will be donated to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

"This event honors my mom, Rosanne Sullivan, who died of TNBC on Oct. 22, 2010," said 17-year-old race director and co-founder Ryan Sullivan. "It is heart-wrenching to see a mother, wife, daughter, sister or friend suffer through this illness with barely any hope. This event is designed to restore hope to people who are affected by this terrible disease. Please help us to make this a successful race by joining us on June 24."

The race registration fee is $25 for adults and $15 for children under the age of 12. The first 200 registrants in the 5K run/walk will receive race t-shirts. Live music will be performed, and refreshments, along with a post-race barbeque will be provided to all registrants. A silent auction will also be held to help raise additional funds. Items will include Red Sox tickets, an Apple iPad, restaurant gift cards, and much more.

Individuals and businesses are invited to make a tax-deductible donation, even if they do not participate in the event. Checks may be made payable to "Rosanne’s Rush For Research" and mailed to the race committee chair: Ryan Sullivan Rosanne’s Rush For Research PO Box 7401 Nashua, NH 03060-7401.

About Triple Negative Breast Cancer

TNBC is a subtype of breast cancer which lacks three receptors normally found on breast cells: the estrogen, progesterone, and the human epidermal growth factor (HER2) receptors. TNBC is difficult to treat because it is unresponsive to the most effective breast cancer therapies that specifically target these receptors. On average, TNBC occurs more often in younger women and accounts for approximately 15% of all breast cancers. Depending on the stage of diagnosis, TNBC can be particularly aggressive, and more likely to recur due to high rates of relapse and metastasis (spread to other tissues).

About Rosanne’s Rush For Research: Rosanne Sullivan passed away in October 2010, after courageously battling triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) for two and a half years. Rosanne’s Rush For Research was established to fund research for the treatment of TNBC and has already donated $20,000 to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Rosanne’s strength and determination were remarkable and Rosanne’s Rush For Research hopes to make a difference in her name to fight this horrible disease.
