VDS Group Announces 100% Water Treatment and Reuse Policy for New Denim Factory
Apparel manufacturer VDS Group is pleased to introduce a policy of 100% water treatment and reuse for its LEED Platinum certified factory Vintage Denim Studio Limited.
New York, NY, June 10, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Apparel manufacturer VDS Group has announced a policy of 100% water treatment and reuse for its newly unveiled garment factory Vintage Denim Studio Limited. The factory has been recognized for its eco-minded initiatives and has been granted LEED Platinum certification by an independent third party.
Because of the volume of water required throughout the production process to dye, wash and style denim, garment facilities are known for the negative impact they can have on the environment. Waste is a common concern for social responsibility advocates, and VDS Group is intent on addressing such issues.
“In initiating this strict water policy, our driving motive was empowering innovation for a greener future, which is a principle we really believe in,” Faisal Saikat, Vice President of Marketing and Development. “We have been in the industry for twenty years and are constantly looking to adopt new practices that are sustainable and socially responsible.”
VDS Group’s tertiary treatment and reuse of water is only one part of a factory-wide management system to control and minimize water consumption. Water-efficient landscaping and water-saving fixtures are also factors in the equation with monitoring taking place at regular intervals. The combined initiatives give the denim company reason to expect an overall water savings of 46% for the facility.
To complement the manufacturer’s water conservation, VDS Group has also implemented energy-efficient initiatives as well as pollution reduction strategies and a sound waste management system. This holistic approach to sustainability is what has earned the denim factory its compliance certifications.
