CSU Completes Complex Data Center Relocation for Leading Internet Video Content Provider
Cedarhurst, NY, June 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- This past weekend, CSU Industries Inc. successfully completed a complex multi-day, multi-facility data center relocation for a leading provider of online video content. The client came to CSU after a West Coast relocation in which they had experienced pains and excessive downtime both before and after the relocation. CSU attended to the client’s needs and responded with the creation of a customized Statement of Work that took into account the criticality of the servers and storage, as well as the budget constraints that the client was under.
“This was not 'business as usual' as the industry standard goes, but this is the usual way of CSU doing business,” stated Andrew Gladstone, VP Technical Operations. Gladstone added, “A lightning quick series of meetings, as well as site surveys performed the same day the client first approached CSU, impressed upon the client that they had the right partner for the move. They immediately cancelled their contact with a competitive bidder to devote all of their resources to working with CSU.”
With less than two weeks to plan and execute the move, the CSU Data Center Relocations team, which consists of seasoned CSU technical resources and logistics leaders, was able to facilitate a seamless migration of systems from one data center to the next. This included multiple moves of systems over a weekend to ensure that the redundancy of the client’s critical systems remained intact. During the entire process of the relocation effort, the client never had any single system unavailable for more than 6 hours.
And that only speaks of the servers. The movement of the client’s storage devices, a key component to their ability to provide the online content that they host and produce for their customers, was critical. CSU worked together with the OEM in relocating and upgrading a series of mission critical storage arrays that contain the client’s number one asset – the video content that they provide to the internet.
As noted in an internal memo by Andrew Gladstone, “It’s a testament to the people and ethic at CSU that the customer was able to relocate with minimal internal resources needing to be dedicated to the move. CSU provided them with the confidence they needed to put the custom SOW into action, and we delivered above and beyond their expectations.”
