Men of Integrity, Perseverance: A Colombian Harvest Published by Outskirts Press

Geronimo and Sherry Montemayor’s new fiction takes a Texan and a Colombian who meet in WW II through decades of cartels, kidnappings and diseases as they strive to build their coffee growing empire.

San Antonio, TX, June 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Veteran authors Geronimo and Sherry Woody Montemayor announced today the release of their second novel, A Colombian Harvest, published by Outskirts Press. Despite multiple kidnappings, hurricanes, grizzly beheadings and a menacing drug cartel, Texan Gerardo Montez and Colombian Hector Gonzalez de Garcia y Gomez and their families persevere in the expansion of their coffee growing enterprise and in the protection of the workers, families and villagers who rely on the two Christian men for support.

Near the end of World War II Gerardo and the young Hector meet and become united in the trenches of Germany. They share similar outlooks on life as well as their Christian beliefs and after the war work together to grow coffee and to care for the workers and surrounding villagers near their expanding plantation.

After several decades the two men and their families have built up a successful coffee plantation and processing plant, but they have also continued to care for their neighbors by establishing a medical clinic and other humanitarian services for them.

These accomplishments have come at a price, though, as the local cartel continues to try to push the men off the land they view as their own exclusive property. Hector is kidnapped by them first, then two of Gerardo’s children and finally Hector’s daughter, Consuelo, is abducted by the cartel and forced to tend the wounds of their members.

One factory is burned down before it is even completed and murders and beheadings continue to threaten the plantation’s workers and the local villagers. A hurricane also takes a severe toll on the enterprise at one point and after that, a mysterious and deadly disease begins to attack the workers and local residents.

A Columbian Harvest provides readers with one harrowing adventure after another and shows the perseverance and integrity of two men not only building a small coffee growing empire, but creating and protecting a community, as well.
