STORY: Kentucky Has One to Tell. Seasoned Storyteller Julie Wilson Launches STORY to Tell the Under-the-Radar Stories That Make Kentucky and Its Residents so Unique.
Pulling from nearly two decades in journalism with international and national publications, Julie Wilson launches STORY to tell the many stories that are unique to the Bluegrass and the colorful folks who call it home. “In my history with Host Communications, the National Tour Association and International SPA Association, I spoke with amazing people from around the world. But, something was missing,” explains Wilson. “I was missing the connection to Kentucky."
Lexington, KY, June 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Did you hear the one about…?” Julie Wilson has heard that at least 100 times in the months leading up to the launch of STORY. Pulling from nearly two decades in journalism with international and national publications, Wilson launches STORY to tell the many stories that are unique to the Bluegrass and the colorful folks who call it home.
“In my history with Host Communications, the National Tour Association and International SPA Association, I spoke with amazing people from around the world. But, something was missing,” explains Wilson, STORY’s editor and publisher. “I was missing the connection to Kentucky. The realization there is so much going on in my home state was the catalyst for creating STORY; to tell the stories that have yet to be told.”
Coming June 25 and published quarterly, Wilson predicts STORY will change the way people view Kentucky. “There is more to Kentucky than horses and basketball. Don’t get us wrong, we love those things, but they barely scratch the surface of what truly reigns supreme in the Bluegrass State.”
Led by Wilson’s award-winning, in-depth reporting, reigning supreme in the premier issue includes:
· A cover model, born and bred in the coal town of Helton, who calls Eastern Kentucky home even though she graces the pages of Cosmopolitan;
· A jeweler outside of Louisville whose designs grace starlets on the Red Carpet;
· And a woman who is the first person to push the pedal on Corvettes as they roll off the assembly line in Bowling Green.
A University of Kentucky graduate and Lexington resident, Wilson adds, “STORY is the state’s only magazine to go under the radar to cover life in Kentucky that translates beyond our popular pastimes and shows who we are and how we live.” Shot by leading Kentucky photographers who know how to display the state’s beauty best, STORY is editorially-driven and designed to be kept on hand and displayed on coffee tables and shelves.
Come June 25, STORY will be available on newsstands including Barnes & Noble, Joseph-Beth Booksellers, Morris Book Shop in Lexington, and Carmichael’s in Louisville. Subscriptions may be purchased on www.storythemagazine.com.
About STORY - To launch in June 2012, STORY is directed at readers who are interested in Kentucky life that often falls outside the bounds of traditional media.
