Embracing this philosophy, members of an online community will either complain or celebrate their lives through their blogs, tweets and vlogs as they explore the topic of the month: Life’s a Beach.
Women on the Verge is an online community of women on www.womenontheverge.net who post about any topic of their liking through social media, but also chime into a monthly topic of discussion to voice their opinions and find sisterly support. Anyone can open a free account and join the conversation.
“Sometimes we just have to stop and smell the dead roses and be okay with it. Or not,” says founder and member Ana Lewis about July’s topic of discussion. “The choice is ours and how we choose to see our lives, and be grateful.” This goes for every aspect of our life, from our work to our relationships to our health.
The WOTV blogs, which garner 1,000,000 hits per month, are the main feature of the community and have landed the website in the pages of Marie Claire magazine. The community also boasts an additional 10,000 followers on social media. Members span all over the world and include New York Times bestselling authors, entrepreneurs and mothers.
Life coach and WOTV member Judy Kinney will also host a telecall called “Your Life, Your Choice” on July 11. Kinney will help participants explore the peace and power of choosing in the hour-long, $40 dollar session. “Every moment is a choice. The art and joy of life always resides with us,” says Kinney on her website www.judykinney.com.
After delving into this month’s topic, some WOTV members will share what they blogged about on the Women Change the World online radio show on www.blogtalkradio.com/womenontheverge. The show airs on the third Wednesday and the next one will be on July 18th, from 7 to 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
Panelists include Judy Kinney; Marta Moran-Bishop, author of “Wee Three, A Mother's Love in Verse”; Jessica Mason Pieklo, women's rights activist and attorney; Dawn Rivers, political junkie and micro-business expert; and Elin Stebbins Waldal, author of “Tornado Warning, A Memoir of Teen Dating Violence and Its Effect on a Woman's Life” and founder of Girls kNOw.
