MAC’s New Green Powder Coating System
Customers might have noticed something different about MAC’s products.
Woodstock, IL, June 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- MAC Automation Concepts, Inc. recently installed a powder coating system. According to the owner, this new method should allow MAC to decrease the time it takes to ship by increasing the number of parts coated at once and by reducing the entire painting process time by half.
Powder coating is an advanced and cost effective method of applying a protective finish to products. A dry free-flowing powder is first applied electrostatically and then cured under heat creating a tougher finish than liquid paint. Powder coating ovens require less exhaust than solvent-based curing ovens there by the energy savings is significant.
Benefits include being an environmentally friendly process the powder coating process emits zero or near zero volatile organic compounds (VOC) unlike solvent based painting. Powder coating produces less hazardous waste when compared to liquid coatings. Recycling overspray achieves nearly 100% usage. Customers will like the thicker coating achieved without running or sagging creating smooth, scratch resistant, texture free surfaces that will last for years.
