A Classical Weekend in the Texas Hill Country

Blanco Performing Arts presents a children's festival and a formal concert, the final chamber music performances of its 2011-2012 season.

Blanco, TX, June 21, 2012 --(PR.com)-- This weekend Blanco Performing Arts presents the final chamber music performances of its successful second season, held at the Uptown Blanco complex. Featuring critically acclaimed violinists Kathryn Eberle and Julia Pautz, a hill country native, as well as Austin pianist Dr. Maimy Fong, the 2pm Sunday June 24, 2012 concert wraps up a well attended season that included appearances by performers from across Texas, including the REVEL Classical Band and clarinetist Victoria Lupieri. On Saturday June 23 from 10am to noon, Blanco Performing Arts is holding the "Express Yourself" young people's creative initiative. Eberle and Pautz will perform selections from the June 24 concert, followed by sessions engaging the young audience members to creatively express their impressions of the music. Ballet San Antonio principal dancer Sarah Aujon will coach the expressive movement session, while Comal ISD 2011 Elementary Teacher of the Year Sarah Culpepper will lead the creative writing session. Uptown Blanco's Art Center will host the hands-on visual art session. Violinist Kathryn Eberle, a graduate of the Juilliard School, has soloed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Nashville Symphony. Ms. Eberle serves as Associate Concertmaster of the Utah Symphony. A native of central Texas, violinist Julia Pautz is a member of the San Diego Symphony. Called a "genuine virtuoso" by the Dallas Morning News, she is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music. Pianist Dr. Maimy Fong holds a masters and doctoral degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall.

Blanco Performing Arts is a non-profit organization whose mission is to bring quality classical chamber music performances to the Texas Hill Country. They are sponsored by Uptown Blanco, an evolving arts complex encompassing multiple restored historic downtown buildings that have been repurposed as a performing and visual arts destination. Founded in 2010, Blanco Performing Arts concerts draw audiences from Austin, San Antonio, New Braunfels, Bulverde, Boerne, Canyon Lake, and Fredericksburg. They are the only organization of its kind in the region, presenting chamber music performers in an intimate setting.
