Erie, PA, June 22, 2012 --(PR.com)-- In honor of June being recognized as national CPR Awareness month, EmergyCare is hosting a Friends & Family CPR day on Saturday, June 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the front lawn of the Erie Zoo. Training is free with your admission to the Erie Zoo.
The training follows the American Heart Association’s Friends & Family training guidelines that teach people how to perform hands-only CPR and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). AED use can improve the chances of survival up to 80 percent in the event of an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Hands-only CPR is proven to be an effective intervention to keep blood flowing to the heart and brain until emergency personnel arrive.
Individuals and families are encouraged to take advantage of this valuable training that could save the life of a friend, family member or perfect stranger. Each training session lasts approximately 25 minutes and you can sign up upon arrival at the Erie Zoo.
Each household that completes the training will receive an American Heart Association Friends & Family CPR Anytime kit to take home with them (a $34.95 value). The kit includes a mini personal manikin, dvd and skills reminder card so participants can brush up on their skills periodically and share the skills with others.
