Towson University to Play on FieldTurf Revolution
Unitas Stadium, home of the Tigers, gets surface upgrade for start of 2012 season.
Towson, MD, June 23, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Towson Tigers are the latest team to join the FieldTurf Revolution family. Construction is underway at Johnny Unitas® Stadium, with the installation of FieldTurf’s innovative and best performing artificial surface: FieldTurf Revolution. This marks Towson’s 2nd FieldTurf installation at the school’s primary football stadium, as officials look forward to continuing their program on FieldTurf’s state-of-the-art surface.
“At Towson University we expect success from our student-athletes both on the field and academically. To allow them to achieve success we have to give them the resources necessary,” said athletic director Mike Waddell. “Our decision to upgrade our field to the Revolution turf gives them a world-class athletic classroom where they can perform at their best and reduce the possibility of injury.”
FieldTurf Revolution is one of the most innovative products in the artificial turf industry. The FieldTurf Revolution fiber is a result of innovative science, engineering, and technology that will provide customers with a soft yet strong monofilament fiber that’s been designed for high durability and excellent longevity.
“Towson University has a strong history and we’re proud that FieldTurf will continue to be part of the program,” said FieldTurf President Eric Daliere. “With FieldTurf Revolution, Johnny Unitas Stadium will rival the best stadiums in the country, and continue to offer the Tigers a safe and high performing surface to excel on.”
Last season, the Tigers were the most improved team in NCAA Division I football, posting a 9-2 regular season record. Picked to finish last in the Colonial Athletic Association, the Turnaround Tigers won their first CAA championship. Towson made its first appearance in the NCAA FCS playoffs, making history in the process. Towson became the first program ever to reach the NCAA playoffs at the Division II level, the Division III level and the FCS level. With FCS national Coach of the Year Rob Ambrose heading into his fourth season, the Tigers can look forward to continuing their winning ways on the new FieldTurf Revolution surface. From an administrative perspective, Towson views the upgrade a much needed recruiting tool, as FieldTurf Revolution boasts the safest and highest performing artificial turf surface in the industry. Having the #1 system installed at Unitas Stadium will only further cement Towson Football in the eyes of football purists in America.
