The Web’s First Dramatic Hip Hop Series, "Pale Blue Light" Pairs with Hip Hop Legend Big Daddy Kane to Take on New York City
Duran Films Presents “Pale Blue Light", a Ground-Breaking Web Series About a Struggling Hip Hop Music Label and the Family Holding It Together. Can Anything Save Hip Hop?
New York, NY, June 27, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Duran Films is pleased to announce that Pale Blue Light, the first dramatic Hip Hop series on the web (and possibly the world) is now complete and ready for air. The six-episode first season of the web series premiered on YouTube, Monday June 25th, on the YouTube channel “Pale Blue Light TV”.
A cross between “The Wire” and “Entourage,” and set around a failing record label (Pale Blue Light Records), Pale Blue Light will focus on two half-brothers at odds about saving the record label started by their father. Mac (Jason Ramirez) is trying to save his father’s (Robert Walker) company and believes in the power of Hip Hop. Happy (Jonathan Duran) is only in it for himself and knows Hip Hop is dead. Pale Blue Light will not only focus on the dynamic of this family, but will serve as a barometer for the Hip Hop community. It will address issues that face the Hip Hop world, present music from exciting artists and ask the question we all want to know...is the music industry dead? Or is it “a sleeping giant...” waiting to be revived, with Hip Hop providing the shot of adrenalin that wakes it?
Produced by Duran Films, the series will star veterans Frankie G & Robert Walker, newcomers Jason Ramirez, Onix Duran and Jonathan Duran and feature legendary rappers Big Daddy Kane and Kool G Rap. Other Hip Hop luminaries round out the crew: producer Keith Shockley (Public Enemy) serves as music supervisor and Bönz Malone (Slam) often called the "Hunter S. Thompson of Hip Hop," is the show’s writer. The series will feature other Hip Hop royalty, both legendary and upcoming, in future episodes.
“Pale Blue Light” is produced by Duran Films. Eddy Duran is Executive Producer. Frankie G is Co-Executive Producer. Big Daddy Kane, Carlos Lozada, Frances Lozada, John Keller are Producers. Isidro Urquia is Director of Photography. Brigid Turner is Assistant Director. Monique Lola Berkeley, Kim Polite, Onix Duran, Santana Pilarte serve as Co-Producers.
