Humane Society of Tampa Bay Animal Health Center Sponsored by Talk Fusion Update

Construction project welcomes summer ahead of schedule.

Tampa, FL, June 27, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Talk Fusion, a rapidly growing global video communication solution company, today has announced that construction is progressing ahead of schedule for the Humane Society of Tampa Bay Animal Health Center sponsored by Talk Fusion in Loving Memory of Thunder & Shadow Reina.

In late July 2012, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay (HSTB) plans to move its health services to the new facility, which will include five examination rooms and six surgery tables. A Grand Opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for early September 2012.

The nearly 10,500-square-foot Animal Health Center—built by A.D. Morgan Corp. and designed by Urban Studios—will provide low-cost, full-service health care for local pets, as well as animals sheltered at the HSTB on Armenia Avenue in Tampa, Florida. The new facility is one block north of the HSTB’s current location.

The more than $3-million project that broke ground late last year is largely funded with a $1 million sponsorship generously contributed by Talk Fusion Founder & CEO Bob Reina in loving memory of Thunder and Shadow Reina, two of his own late dogs. The contribution is the single-largest one ever made during the 100-year history of the HSTB. Early last month at the annual HSTB Tuxes and Tails fundraiser, Reina contributed another $100,000 to celebrate the shelter’s 100 years of speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves.

“The Humane Society of Tampa Bay does so much for companion animals and pet owners throughout the area,” said Reina, also a Board Member, HSTB. “But the Humane Society’s efforts and success are severely limited by the lack of adequate clinical facilities. That’s why making sure this new facility is built and operational will allow the Humane Society to expand its need to provide low-cost spay and neuter for animals, as well as provide for owners a higher level of service that’s affordable.”

With most of the heavy lifting complete on the construction of the Animal Health Center, the interior details and design have become the focus, such as electricity and cabinetry currently being installed. “We are pleased with how well the construction is moving along,” said Sherry Silk, Executive Director, HSTB. “It’s starting to look like a real building inside.” Silk added: “Our new Animal Health Center will dramatically increase our ability to help pet owners keep their four-legged family members healthy, happy and immunized. It can help drastically reduce the need for companion animal euthanasia.”

It’s estimated that in the first year the new Animal Health Center will create an increase of at least 20 percent in the number of companion animals helped by the HSTB. To date, the HSTB has made great strides in reducing animal euthanasia in the community, having helped more than one million animals during the organization’s 100-year existence.

The Animal Health Center will offer low-cost spaying and neutering to owned pets, as well as a full spectrum of general care, from vaccinations to alternative holistic therapies and surgery. The new facilities will dramatically increase the amount of animals HSTB veterinarians will be able to see and help, raising the span and quality of life for many more companion animals. A greater percentage of those families that might consider giving up their beloved pets because they can’t afford proper care will have an alternative. More vaccinations, spays and neuters will result in a further decline in needless animal euthanasia.

In addition, the Animal Health Center will provide better care for the HSTB’s shelter animals. The shelter is constantly taking in animals with chronic, severe or life-threatening medical issues, and many of them must be treated elsewhere, costing considerable extra time and money. While no shelter animals will be housed at the Animal Health Center, they can be taken there for standard treatment, emergencies or more extensive surgeries.
