UKFast Stacks Up at Data Centre Awards
Cloud and hosting specialist UKFast has scooped a top data centre award less than 12 months after opening its first wholly-owned data centre.
Manchester, United Kingdom, June 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Manchester hosting company, UKFast, has scooped a top data centre award less than a year after launching its first wholly-owned facility.
The cloud and hosting specialist’s MyCloudStack private cloud solution was named Private Cloud Product of the Year 2012 at last night’s Data Centre Solutions Awards ceremony.
The Datacentre Solutions Awards reward the products, projects and services as well as honouring companies and teams operating in the data centre industry.
Lawrence Jones, UKFast’s CEO, said: “To receive recognition for MyCloudStack, which is built using VMware technology, just a month after being named as a VMware Enterprise Service Provider, really strengthens our position as one of the leading providers of VMware solutions.

In February the hosting specialist secured three more buildings for development as data centre space. The buildings will go live in summer, taking UKFast’s storage capacity from 8,500sqft to just over 23,000sqft and more than doubling the company’s hosting capacity from 9,000 to 24,000 servers.
The winning product, MyCloudStack, provides a ‘middle-ground’ cloud solution for SMEs to harness the performance, protection and business reassurance of technologies designed for bigger businesses, at a fraction of the cost. This is achieved by re-engineering this technology to enable clients to share the expensive layers – such as SAN storage – while keeping dedicated nodes and firewalls. This provides a solution to the ‘budget vs power’ problem that many small companies face when choosing a cloud solution.
The award comes as UKFast launches its latest product from the MyCloudStack range, MyCloudStack Virtual. MyCloudStack Virtual incorporates dedicated virtual machines within shared hosts to create a secured private virtual area and highly-scalable entry into cloud hosting.
