Kapp Alloy & Wire Achieves NSF-61® Certification
Oil City, PA, June 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Kapp Alloy & Wire, a leading solder, spraywire, and Babbitt manufacturer located in Oil City, PA, has received NSF-61® Certification for its KappZapp™ Tin-Silver solders for use in drinking water systems. In addition, KappZapp™ solders have met the requirements of NSF/ANSI 61, Annex G® for low Lead content (< 0.2%) and are in compliance with California 116875 (commonly known as AB1953) and Vermont Act 193.
NSF International is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides standards development, product certification, auditing, education, and risk management for public health and the environment. The NSF/ANSI Standard 61 certifies that Kapp Alloy’s KappZapp™ solders adhere to the stringent standards set forth by NSF International regarding Drinking Water System Components. The standard goes far beyond “Potable Water Safe” designations by auditing all raw materials, documentation, processes and test
procedures to ensure public health and the environment are protected from harmful products.
Jack Crawford, Kapp Alloy’s president, stated, “As Kapp Alloy continues to gain new customers around the world, the NSF-61® certification is the essential qualification for solders and fluxes used in food and water systems. As the NSF-61® certification is more rigorous, it also ensures European RoHS and REACH compliance.”
The NSF/ANSI certification process involves seven basic steps: Application; Formulation, toxicology, and product use information; NSF formulation review; Plant audit and sample collection; Laboratory testing, Toxicology evaluation; Certification granted and follow-up. Once products have been certified, they are inspected, reviewed, and renewed on an annual basis.
