Daniel Maltzman Combines Glamour with Abstract Vibes in New Gerhard Richter Inspired Artworks at Artspace Warehouse Gallery Los Angeles
Currently showing his energetic artworks at Artspace Warehouse, Daniel Maltzman's artistic influences are rooted in his Los Angeles upbringing and celebrity surroundings.
Los Angeles, CA, June 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Inspired by renowned artist Gerhard Richter’s thick layers of paint and strategically blurred paintings based on black and white photographs, Maltzman uses layers and twisted brushwork to achieve an almost photographic effect with his dream-like evanescent figures. Deliberately lacking an explicit agenda; his high impact shadowy figures and faces do not require anything more from the viewer than perhaps a reflection that allows the viewer to fill in the blanks with their own storyline. Remarking on his own work, Maltzman states “Painted with a spontaneous feel, images are often created with a different perspective, but the vision can be universally understood. I think that's what people appreciate about my work; they just see the spaciousness in the paintings that really gives it an interesting feel.”
The appeal of Maltzman’s work has drawn the attention of collectors with international flair looking for works that speak across geographic boundaries. One collector described Maltzman as “one of those quite rare breakthrough artists who is in the process of defining a new vision, a new paradigm, in which you are bringing astute references from the past into a dynamic sensibility of the present to create a measure of elegance and beauty that I believe has been missing from contemporary art for much too long.”
Maltzman and his artworks have appeared on several television shows such as the Academy and Emmy Awards as well as in the background of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, NBC’s Dirty Sexy Money and MTV’s Paris Hilton’s My New BFF.
Maltzman’s inspirations are derived from everything around him. A dynamic billboard, a stunning fashion ad, a woman masquerading in the night; anything can set off an idea that will turn into a painting. He mentions “My thing is painting… I’m doing it for the love of what I do.”
