Yodel Scoops IoIC National Award for First Class Newsletter
Hatfield, United Kingdom, June 30, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Your Call, the employee magazine for Yodel, the UK’s leading parcel delivery company, has been named class winner in the newsletter category at the Institute of Internal Communications (IoIC) National Awards. The award was presented to the Yodel team by former GMTV presenter Fiona Phillips at a ceremony at London’s Hilton Park Lane on Friday, June 15.
The IoIC judges described Your Call as "a small, but beautifully formed, publication. Everything looks like it's in the right place and the content is targeted at the workforce. There's a welcome balance between people and policy and many much bigger corporate publications would do well to follow its example. There are some fun features too, which adds to the readers' enjoyment."
Your Call, designed for Yodel by Pages Creative, was launched to help create a sense of unity in a new company made up of two businesses, following the acquisition of DHL Domestic by Home Delivery Network – it was therefore important for the magazine to create a sense of community and shared values across all employees. Since its launch in December 2010, Your Call has won a number of IoIC awards at both national and regional level.
Richard Wells, HR Director for Yodel, said: "We are extremely proud to receive this latest recognition for our employee magazine, which is further credit to the hard work of the teams within Yodel and Pages Creative. Your Call is an essential publication that goes to all our employees, many of whom are mobile and widely dispersed. It helps inform and drive engagement in all areas of the business.”
Mark Lawrence, a director at Pages Creative, added: "We're really pleased that Your Call continues to be received positively by Yodel employees and the internal communications industry. Its success is based on telling the Yodel story through its employees – and many of them have been involved in suggesting content for the newsletter. Their commitment to the business shines through when you talk to them and the award for Your Call is a just reward for all their hard work."
The writing of Your Call is shared by Yodel’s in-house team and Pages Creative, while the photography is a mix of commissioned work and supplied pictures, many of which were submitted by interviewees.
The Institute of Internal Communications' Awards is the biggest of its kind in Europe. Your Call also won an Award of Excellence in the IoIC national awards in June 2011 and was a Class Winner in the newsletter category at the North Region Awards in September 2011.
