The West 4th Handball Club Presents the 5th Annual Boys Junior Doubles Tournament
The West 4th Handball Club, celebrating its 5th year serving inner city youth within the five boroughs of New York, is opening the season with a Doubles Tournament on Saturday, June 30, 2012.
Bronx, NY, June 30, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The West 4th Handball Club, located in the Bronx, New York was started in June 2007. David Melendez, a former USHA Top Ten player and Computer Professional is the Founder, and Saroya C. Fanniel, a retired Network and Computer consultant is the Technical Adviser for the organization.
Known for unusual shots, David Melendez has over 40 years in the sport. Mr. Melendez has taught many young people and several are A-Players today. Mr. Melendez played Singles games and participated in USHA sponsored Doubles Tournaments with partner Angel Marquez, who can be seen in the independent documentary Handball film "Big Blue".
The West 4th Handball Club organizes and holds Handicap and Open Tournaments for inner-city youth within the five boroughs of New York who are 20 and under during the Summer. One game of the season is dedicated to an all Girls Open Tournament.
There is never an entry fee and refreshments, balls, W4th Handball Club logo T-shirts and trophies are provided. All is free!
Handball has many challenges similar to those in Life. The concepts found on the court such as cooperation, endurance, patience, respect and acceptance can be translated into Life Lessons that will enhance a young person's perceptions. The West 4th Handball Club shows young people that there are adults who care about the kind of human being they will be and gives them another perspective on their present conditions. Therefore, it is emphasized that whatever their Life may bring to them there is always a choice and nothing is insurmountable when one accepts challenge and uses it as a lesson. The Club is committed to them and the communities they reside in.
The West 4th Handball Club motto is, "This game is like Life; it's how you handle the ball you're given."
