Michael Hensley of Guardian Capital Advisors, LLC Helps Lead Washington, D.C. Financial Event
Managing Member of Raleigh Firm One Of Only Fifteen Financial Advisors Nationwide to Participate in Capitol Hill Day Advocacy Event
Raleigh, NC, June 30, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Guardian Capital Advisors, LLC (GCA) (http://www.guardianca.com/), a firm specializing in Retirement Plans as well as financial advice for individuals and businesses, has announced that managing member and financial advisor Michael Hensley recently helped lead a grassroots effort on Capitol Hill. Hensley was one of only fifteen financial advisors selected to participate from across the country, based on the size of his successful practice and his geographic location. He met with members of Congress and their staffs as part of the Financial Services Institute (FSI) team on June 6, 2012. The goal of FSI is to protect consumers and preserve Americans’ access to affordable, unbiased financial advice.
The independent financial advisor members of FSI serve more than 15 million American households. They are affiliated with independent broker-dealer firms who serve more than 180,000 independent financial advisors registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Many of these advisors also manage Registered Investment Advisory firms registered with the SEC or Secretary of State Securities Division. Members of Congress with whom FSI members met, serve on House and Senate committees important to the investment community, including the Senate Banking Committee, Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, House Financial Services Committee and House Education and Workforce Committee.
Quotes:
"Speaking directly to members of Congress about what our clients are dealing with and letting them know what hard-working Americans are coping with every day is invaluable," said Hensley. “This was an incredible opportunity for use to educate them on what Americans need in terms of financial advice today and for retirement. We expressed our concerns regarding what Congress and the administration are proposing, such as changes to existing rules of the Department of Labor which would price out millions of Americans from access to financial advice on their IRAs. Another issue is the regulatory gap that exists between how some financial advisors are regulated. We asked the members of Congress to support a bill by Chairman Spencer Bachus (R-AL) that will close that gap and protect consumers.”
