Omni Softgoods Goes Out of Business
Omni Softgoods, maker of fine futon covers, is closing its doors.
Spring Green, WI, June 18, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Omni Softgoods, one of the nations top futon cover manufacturers, closed its doors to new orders on Friday, June 15, 2007. Omni Softgood's decision to stop doing business was a shock to many futon retailers that depended on Omni futon covers to meet the demands of their customers.
"I was very disappointed to learn Omni had made the decision to close its doors," said Gabe LeBlanc, President of Futon Planet. "Our futon cover selection will be negatively impacted for certain. We are certainly going to miss them."
The futon industry has recently seen many companies go out of business. Adonis Furniture closed several months ago and United Sleep Products, manufacturer Simmons futon mattresses, just went out of business in the second quarter of 2007.
"The futon industry is contracting," continues LeBlanc, "and although it is hard to isolate a single cause, I think peoples' economic situations have certainly been tested more than ever in recent times. It's hard to say what the future holds. We certainly could be doing better, but all-in-all we run a tight ship. Other companies with large overheads and surplus inventory may be in trouble, however."
Omni Softgoods made its intentions know earlier this month and was slowly phasing out its inventory of materials. Whether another company will see a vacuum and rush to fill it remains to be seen.
