Superior Grocers and Its Foundation Donate $5,000 to Support Education in the City of Industry
Santa Fe Springs, CA, June 29, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Superior Grocers, one of Southern California’s largest independent supermarket chains, through its non-profit organization, Superior Foundation is proud to announce its latest donation to local schools. On Friday, June 29, 2012, Superior Foundation will be awarding a $5,000 donation to Bassett High School, from the city of La Puente. The school was selected through an on-going collaboration with the City of Industry’s Chamber of Commerce and the City of Industry Mayor’s Office.
Bassett High School serves a population of 1,294 students for grade levels 9 through 12, primarily comprised of 93% Latino students residing in the La Puente & City of Industry areas.
A check presentation has been scheduled for Friday, June 29, 2012 at 2:00pm at Superior’s City of Industry store located at 151 S. Hacienda Blvd., City of Industry, CA 91744. Superior executives will present this school award to City of Industry Mayor Jeff Parriott, Bassett Unified school District’s Superintendent, Martin Galindo, School Principal Salvador Flores and Chamber of Commerce representative, Ron Whitamore.

For the past 15 years, the Superior Foundation has raised over $2 million for many local elementary, high schools, and youth programs. Scholarships have been given to over 230 schools and non-profit organizations in Southern California.
