CORE's Julia Malisos Appointed to Mission Viejo Planning and Transportation Commission

Brea, CA, July 05, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Core Development Services has always been known for its strong planning expertise. Earlier this year this strength was formally recognized when Senior Project Manager, Julia Malisos was appointed to the City of Mission Viejo’s Planning and Transportation Commission.

Appointed to fill a seat left vacant, Malisos will serve out the remainder of the current term, after which she explains she will reapply for a full length term. “I feel privileged to give back to my community with my passion for planning and land-use as well as my professional expertise,” Malisos explains.

As a Planning and Transportation Commissioner for the City of Mission Viejo, Malisos is responsible for guiding the development and implementation of Mission Viejo’s key planning policies and practices, including the city’s general plan and zoning code. For Malisos, both a student and practicing urban planner, fewer things come more naturally. In fact, as one of Core Development Services lead Senior Project Managers, Malisos has not only led numerous projects through the entitlement process but also manages teams of the firm’s zoning and leasing personnel. “My experiences as a planner and at Core have enhanced my understanding and appreciation of jurisdictional processes as well as of public hearings and community participation,” she explains, “I look forward to using these skills to guide my work as a Planning Commissioner.”

Malisos holds a Bachelors of Science in Planning from Arizona State University and Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of California, Irvine. She has worked at Core Development Services since 2009 and is LEED and CGBP certified.
