ESa Effectively Leverages Autodesk Navisworks Manage with Help from Advanced Solutions
Nashville, TN, July 08, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Nashville-based architecture and design firm, ESa, combined its Autodesk Revit Architecture experience with Autodesk Platinum Partner Advanced Solutions’ customized Autodesk Navisworks Manage software training to design, review and visualize the Gaillard Arts Center in a Building Information Modeling (BIM) environment. Located in Charleston, S.C., the more than 260,000 square feet arts center involves an existing structure which will be 90 percent demolished and renovated. Construction is slated to begin in August 2012.
“The nature of the Gaillard Arts Center project, with its complex spaces and tight clearances, created a need to bring Navisworks coordination and clash detection forward in the design process, before the project is handed off to contractors,” said Eric Klotz, ESa BIM director. “The customization of the Navisworks Manage training experience was integral to our engagement with Advanced Solutions. We were able to clearly delineate expectations and formulate a plan that specifically addressed our needs,” he added.
With the project still in the works, ESa has not quantified with a dollar figure the benefits of the services Advanced Solutions provided and the company’s use of Navisworks Manage. A previous arts center completed in 2D will serve as a baseline comparison tool for this particular BIM project.
ESa’s BIM vision is clear. “Everyone has been keyed into the modeling and coordination aspects of BIM, but the information piece has been lagging. That will be a driving force going forward,” suggested Klotz. “The evolution of software will continue, and we will need Advanced Solutions to learn the software and find new ways to service our clients.”
The future for ESa entails carrying data through the entire building lifecycle, from initial design to facilities management and the enhanced relationship that creates with the client.
On June 30, 2012, ESa was presented with the Revit Technology Conference North America 2012 Award for Revit Integration. The prize was given to the firm which best demonstrated the use of all three streams of Revit (Structure, MEP and Architecture) within a single project. The Gaillard Arts Center Project provided the perfect backdrop to showcase all three streams of Revit in a single project.
