Marriott's TownePlace Suites Opens in Midland

Midland, TX, July 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE: MAR) is proud to announce the June 25th opening of TownePlace Suites by Marriott in Midland, Texas. The 100-suite hotel will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and operated by Dallas-based Western International and will employ twenty-five people.

TownePlace Suites Midland, located at 5508 Deauville Boulevard, is just eight miles from Midland International Airport and 10 minutes from downtown. It offers guests convenient access to Grande Communications Stadium, Citibank Ballpark and Permian Basin Petroleum Museum. Rates will vary depending on the length of stay. The suites are designed for extended stays.

TownePlace Suites Midland offers a 24-hour business center, laundry facilities for guests, a Market, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, a full-service bar, an outdoor patio, 1,500 square feet of meeting space, housekeeping services and high-speed and wireless internet service at no additional charge in all guest suites and public areas. A complimentary continental breakfast and a 24-hour coffee service are also available.

The TownePlace Suites is one of three hotels in the Midland/Odessa area owned and operated by Western International of Dallas, Texas, according to Gene Carter, President of Western International. “We are under construction with another Residence Inn by Marriott in the Parks Legado Town Center development in Odessa.”

Western International also began construction last week on a new full service Hilton Garden Inn next door to the TownePlace that should open in July of 2012. “Altogether, we will have twelve hundred rooms in the market – we’re making a big commitment to Midland and Odessa. We believe this is not a boom to bust cycle as in the past in the Permian Basin,” said Gene Carter. “It’s an ongoing shale play that we expect to last for the next 20 to 40 years.”
