Community Corps NPower IT Project Signs Stanbridge College as Charter West Coast Member
Stanbridge College has become the charter West Coast member of The Community Corps’ academic partnership program. This will provide the college’s Information Technology students with opportunities to partner with Fortune 500 IT professionals and provide free IT assistance for nonprofit organizations in need of technology support.
Irvine, CA, July 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Stanbridge College, a technical college that offers diploma programs and Associate, Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Healthcare and Information Technology, has become a charter member of a national program that enlists leading academic institutions to work with NPower’s Community Corps to provide pro bono IT support to nonprofits and schools. NPower is a national nonprofit providing IT services to other nonprofits and training to young adults across the country.
The partnership with The Community Corps program will enable students in IT programs at Stanbridge College to work directly with IT professionals to support nonprofits with IT support and services. Students will be able to use their skills to benefit the Orange County community while earning credit towards coursework in a structured learning environment.
“We’re delighted that Stanbridge students and faculty are supporting NPower’s mission to close the IT gap for nonprofits,” said NPower CEO Stephanie Cuskley. “This will be a real benefit to the nonprofits of Orange County as well as the Stanbridge students who participate.”
“Stanbridge College is pleased to be the first academic partner of NPower’s Community Corps on the West Coast,” stated Yasith Weerasuriya, President of Stanbridge College. “This partnership will provide our students with valuable experience in IT support. NPower’s program will also allow our students to assist many worthy nonprofit organizations with their in-house IT operation needs.”
The recent partnership is a part of the college’s REACH - Beyond the Classroom™ Service Learning and Civic Engagement Initiative. Through REACH, Stanbridge College encourages students to volunteer their time and skills to aid local and global nonprofit organizations and their causes.
