Taylor Hicks Fans Remember Enterprise High Students
A print of portraits of Taylor Hicks is being auctioned on Ebay to benefit the Enterprise High School in Enterprise, AL after a devastating tornado that took the lives of eight young students in March 2007.
Birmingham, AL, June 21, 2007 --(PR.com)-- In March 2007, only eight days into his first national solo tour, platinum recording artist Taylor Hicks was in Myrtle Beach, SC for his first House of Blues performance. As concert goers lined up for the general admission concert, news was just reaching them that two states away in Alabama a devastating tornado had ripped through Enterprise destroying the high school and killing eight young students.
In a meeting before the concert with his Soul Patrol fans, Hicks was presented with a collection of sketches by artist, Laurensilk. When the Soul Patrol artist later offered a print of the collection to a Hicks fansite, www.whompswamp.com, generously wanting to donate it to raise money for a charity, the perfect benefactor was Enterprise High School. Hicks had joined with the American Red Cross during his two hometown concerts in Birmingham just days after the disaster to raise funds for the City of Enterprise.
“We are remembering those who died in Enterprise that day with this copy of the original Laurensilk presented to Taylor,” the Whomp Swamp organizers explained. “All proceeds from its sale will be donated to Enterprise High School in honor of those young people.”
“Taylor Hicks”, 28” x 10” unframed artwork by Laurensilk, will be awarded to the highest bidder on June 28. Starting bid is $25. For more information visit www.whompswamp.com or go to eBay to bid on this unique Taylor art:
