Tamer’s Warehouse Efficiency Boosted with SNS Implementation of Infor WMS
The movement of goods and services through large warehouse operations is a complex association of the physical and the technical. The Tamer Group’s wide base of operations—which includes five large business channels—turned to SNS, the Middle East’s supply-chain expert, to configure, train-on and deploy an advanced Warehouse Management System (WMS) that controls and monitors all of the activities within the 4 walls of their Distribution Center in Al Khumra.
Beirut, Lebanon, July 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The solution went live on the morning of the 8th of May after a full warehouse count using Handheld terminals.
Tamer’s new main DC, a 30,000-square-meter facility, has multiple cold-storage sections for food and nutritional products, a fully racked dry section and a mezzanine floor both serving for the storage and handling of pharmaceutical, medical, luxury and consumer goods. Outbound and inbound goods-handling are pallet, case as well as piece-based. With sensitive products highly controlled by governmental regulation, the end-to-end tracking of lots with attributes that include batch, manufacturing and expiry dates, cost and others is critical to success of the whole operation.
SNS configured the WMS to reflect the deep specifics of Tamer’s operation implementing such features as Cluster Picking to minimize travelling and combine multiple orders in one pick route. SNS also setup the system to capture all required information at receiving time, ensuring that it is available when shipping and such rules as FEFO are respected when stocks are picked. The first go-live was focused on three of the five businesses of Tamer covering all consumer products which include beauty, nutrition and prestige.
The WMS shares real-time execution information with the various concerned entities, to provide Tamer with increasingly greater across-the-board agility at a lower cost of ownership. SNS provided on-site management through the whole of the Infor WMS implementation, including the development of a successful end-to-end integration with Tamer’s Oracle E Business Suite ERP.
“Once again, SNS is playing a key role in the organization, storage and movement of our products, a critical success factor to our business,” said Mohammed Tamer, Managing Partner at Tamer Group. “They were with us every step of the way during the implementation to ensure all our concerns are addressed.”
“We are very grateful for the trust that tamer has put in us and pleased to go live successfully on the Infor WMS with such a renowned company,” said Mario Ghosn, General Manager at SNS. “Our team is always keen on providing the fast and reliable support needed by our customers in the region.”
