EquiSight Jockey Cam Event at Canterbury Park
EquiSight Jockey Cam Event at Canterbury Park will offer fans the fascinating look from the riders’ point of view.
Tucson, AZ, July 18, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Canterbury Park will be on the cutting-edge of horse racing innovation on July 20th and 21st 2012, when the EquiSight helmet camera system will be used during the track’s live racing cards. Canterbury Park’s sixth annual Extreme Race Day, Saturday, July 21st, will feature ten horse races, plus exhibition races by camels and ostriches and, yes, EquiSight will be outfitting both the camel and ostrich races. Several of the races on the Extreme Day program have unique conditions or are at distances not normally carded at Canterbury. The program begins at 1:30 p.m CST.
The EquiSight camera system allows viewers a first-person perspective of the racing action, putting the fan in the middle of the heart-pounding excitement. Following each race, the video replay from the winning horse, camel and ostrich will be shown by Canterbury Park to give fans a new way of seeing how the race was won. According to David Matt and Kenleigh Hobby, founders of EquiSight, horse racing has difficulty appealing to a younger audience because the current presentation of the sport is outdated, two-dimensional, and fails to use technology to improve the fan’s experience. By taking the fan and putting them in the saddle so they can virtually Ride the Race®, people will then be able to feel the speed, beauty, and intensity that is the Sport of Kings. EquiSight looks to bring a commercialized solution to market in the first quarter of 2013. The strategy of EquiSight is to bring horse racing out of the binocular era so it can compete with more technologically advanced sports, similar to what NASCAR did with their in-car camera solution.
