Astute Networks Names Len Rosenthal Senior Vice President of Marketing
Leading Provider of Networked Flash Acceleration Appliances for Virtual Server and Desktop Environments Expands its Leadership Team with Virtualization Industry Marketing Veteran.
San Diego, CA, July 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Astute NetworksTM, Inc., the leading provider of Networked Flash application performance acceleration appliances, today announced that it has appointed Len Rosenthal as senior vice president of marketing. The announcement follows the company’s recent Series B funding round which raised $12 million. As senior vice president of marketing, Rosenthal will lead Astute Networks’ global corporate, product, and channel marketing efforts as the company continues the rapid sales and brand expansion for its Astute Networks family of ViSX™ appliances, powered by the company’s patented DataPump EngineTM.
In 2012, although more than 60 million virtual machines will be deployed, only about 39 percent (1) of applications will have been virtualized. The overwhelming majority of business-critical applications have yet to be virtualized, primarily due to challenges around maintaining good performance for these I/O-intensive applications. Astute Networks’ ViSX appliances overcome these challenges by accelerating performance for virtualized server and desktop environments. Astute Networks offers a technology innovation that is perfectly timed with the market opportunity and a company that is ideally positioned with the funding and experienced management team to capitalize on it. The addition of Rosenthal to the Astute Networks executive management team is the latest strategic move in the company’s execution plan.
"Len’s innovative marketing expertise combined with his tremendous depth of experience in the virtualization and storage industry will result in marketing, channels, and sales enablement campaigns that will have a direct impact on our continued market momentum,” said Steve Topper, CEO, Astute Networks. “I'm very pleased to have him join our executive leadership team as we continue to build on our strategy for market leadership and long term success.”
Reporting directly to Topper, Rosenthal will oversee Astute Networks’ initiatives for corporate marketing, product marketing, product management, channel marketing and sales enablement. Among the programs under his direction will be activities for public relations, field marketing, promotions, events, product planning, social media, advertising, communications, Web presence, as well as demand and lead generation.
A proven marketing executive, Rosenthal has over 26 years of experience in marketing at leading public and privately held information technology companies. Prior to joining Astute Networks, Rosenthal was vice president of marketing at virtual infrastructure performance monitoring leader Virtual Instruments, responsible for overall marketing strategy and implementation including product marketing, corporate marketing and marketing communications. Before his post at Virtual Instruments, Rosenthal was the chief marketing officer at Panasas, the leading supplier of high-performance parallel NAS storage systems. Previous to Panasas, Rosenthal held executive marketing leadership positions with QLogic, PathScale, Inktomi Corporation, Silicon Graphics (SGI), and has held various server product line management positions at Hewlett-Packard (HP).
Rosenthal has an MBA from the Haas Business School at the University of California at Berkeley, a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Business School.
"Astute Networks has an impressive combination of technology innovation, product differentiation and expert leadership to capitalize on a market that is truly ripe with opportunity,” said Len Rosenthal, senior vice president of marketing, Astute Networks. “I look forward to driving the company's marketing and channel partner initiatives as we capitalize on Astute Networks’ stable of game changing flash solutions for customers who want to accelerate the performance of their virtual applications and maximize the value of their virtualization investment.”
Astute Networks breaks the virtualization performance barrier by resolving the critical I/O bottlenecks – giving applications a simple to deploy, performance accelerator that can only come from its Networked Flash technology. This dramatically improves both network and storage I/O performance to deliver the sustained throughput business-critical applications need, without the extra cost of adding more storage, server resources or network capacity. Now today’s most I/O-intensive applications need not be constrained by I/O performance limitations. Astute Networks ViSX appliances deliver lightning fast performance in a cost-efficient, turn-key appliance that can be non-disruptively installed in minutes.
ViSX applicances support all major virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere (VMware-Ready certified), Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer, and Red Hat RHEV. By complementing all existing SAN or NAS infrastructures, with a seamlessly additive highly optimized flash-based datastore tier, ViSX uniquely delivers the performance requirements demanded by today’s business-critical applications.
