Taipei, Taiwan, July 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Taiwan top household brand aggressively develops information system.
Working House is Taiwan’s top household brand and retailer, covering living, product and space art and specializes in restaurant, kitchen, toiletry, furniture, decoration, gardening and stationary product development and design. The brand has established several branches in major cities in Taiwan.
Comparing with other industry players, Working House started applying information system rather early, with the system applications including POS as well as sharing of business information between headquarter and suppliers.
Currently, Working House adopts the account/password mechanism as its security verification application method. Its suppliers use an account/password to log on to its B2B system to launch operations such as order and payment. Its stores also apply the password/account mechanism for its store management system to deal with operations such as order, account and salary.
Improve overall procedure by PKI to create highly-secure environment
To improve the current supplier procurement procedure and strengthen overall system security verification, Working House has decided to ask Ares to provide consultant services and help integrate overall PKI implementation of its supply chain.
Cheng-Hsiang Cheng, a manager with Working House, indicates the overall system plan of Working House covers its suppliers and stores. In terms of suppliers, the major verification method would be the Certification Authority of Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEACA) or natural person certificate as authorized by the MOEA. Working House can reach the non-repudiation goal of information exchange through legal certificates while verifying order, shipment notification, statement, etc, to speed up its procurement process while avoiding related disputes.
At stores, managers or authorized attendants mainly adopt natural person certificates to solve the issue of information leakage of account, password, salary information and confidential reports.
Team spirit solves project issues
Chang indicates that during the promotional period of the applications, the store managers of Working House had various opinions while suppliers were relatively unfamiliar with certificate operations despite existing knowledge about B2B system operations. Additionally, various versions of MOEACA is one of the issues remain to be solved.
Consequently, Working House has decided to adopt certificates for salary operations and requested several of its suppliers to test and ensure system SOP is smooth while modifying installation and process to ensure a successful system go-live.
Successful project results with highly-secure environment
Ares assisted Working House to introduce PKI integration in six months, with the project covering hundreds of suppliers and stores. The efficiency exceeds the original goal of Working House.
Chang notes that Working House has established a safe log-in platform with suppliers via MOEACA and natural person certificate. The digital signature function of PKI improves the issue of lack of non-repudiation for orders while the person in charge of procurement no longer needs to double confirm with suppliers via phone calls. Suppliers can avoid delayed shipment disputes via digital signature for shipment date. This can also guarantee matched statement and payments for better control over cash flow.
For the stores, the new system can effectively solve issues stemming from a high employee turnover rate while improving its information system security level. After using PKI as the identification method, Working House can ensure that the identities of its former employees will not be used by other personnel.
