Emerald Springs Development Named Finalist in Affordable Housing Finance Readers’ Choice Awards
Detroit, MI, July 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Emerald Springs, a multi-family housing development recently built by The Douglas Company of Holland, Ohio, has been selected as a finalist for the Family Category in Affordable Housing Finance Magazine’s (AHF’s) 2012 Readers’ Choice Awards for the Nation’s Best Affordable Housing Developments.
Detroit, Michigan’s latest development consists of all-brick rental homes and townhouses spanning over four city blocks and provides occupants with a secure community atmosphere incomparable to any other in the vicinity. Along with 158 new apartment units, the development features a clubhouse with fitness center, recreational area and computer lab, and multiple playground areas speckle the grounds to keep the neighborhood children amused. Dubbed “an oasis in the city” by public officials in the Detroit Free Press, the housing project is the only affordable development in Michigan selected as a finalist in any AHF Readers’ Choice category this year. Finalists will be featured in the July/August issues of Affordable Housing Finance and voting is set to take place between July 11 and August 15.
Emerald Springs, developed by Unified Property Group and the Detroit Housing Commission, was a welcome addition the Motor City. The 192,000 square foot project featuring the architectural design of Economides Architects was completed in June, 2012 and has since opened its doors to many eager residents.
