Homeowner in Foreclosure Hosts Seminar to Help Others Save Their Homes
Illinois Homeowners Fighting Foreclosure (IHFF) is presenting seminars teaching families in foreclosure how to save their homes. The first seminar will be held noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL.
St. Charles, IL, July 24, 2012 --(PR.com)-- After more than 3 years in foreclosure Elburn, Ill., homeowners Linda and Bruno Castellano are still living in and fighting for their home. Linda and her daughter, Nicole Castellano, have formed Illinois Homeowners Fighting Foreclosure (IHFF) to present seminars teaching others in foreclosure what they’ve learned in their ongoing battle. The first seminar will be held noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, Ill.
“I was raised to believe that hard work pays off in the end and that owning your own home is the safest and best investment a family can make in their lifetime,” said Linda. “But a home is so much more than an investment. It’s a place to raise our kids. It’s the core of our family life.”
Like many families in foreclosure, the Castellanos were struck by a combination of the economic downturn affecting their business of 37 years and personal health issues. Eventually they no longer could make payments on their home. They sought modification and eventually found themselves in foreclosure, but they didn’t give up and are still fighting.
They hired Joseph P. McCaffery & Associates, a local foreclosure defense law firm in March 2010, and have worked closely with their legal team.
“Linda is unique in that she really plays an active role in defending her case,” said Attorney Joe McCaffery, principal of the firm. “Most of our clients turn their matters over to us and wait for updates – and that’s fine because that’s our job – but the Castellanos do a lot of research and provide it to us for evaluation on whether it will help their case and that research has helped streamline efforts for other families too.”
The seminar will include some history on the lending industry and what it evolved to at the peak of the housing market, and what caused the market to crash. It will explain terminology used by lenders and common tactics – many of them fraudulent and illegal – used by mortgagers and their attorneys to steal homes from families.
“Most importantly, we will teach others how to legitimately fight for their homes and defeat the corrupt system,” said Linda.
The cost of the seminar is $99 per pre-registered household and $149 at the door. Presenters include Linda Castellano and Joe McCaffery. Attorneys from the firm will provide free consultations during the event.
