LifeSpan Announces Participation on Solid State Drive Task Force
Newton, MA, July 24, 2012 --(PR.com)-- LifeSpan announced that company President Dag Adamson is a founding member of a task force formed by NAID (National Association for Information Destruction) to study Solid State Drive (SSD) data destruction. The task force is to be composed of industry professionals and technical experts and will explore developing a standard for both physical destruction and sanitization that will meet the needs of business customers.
“Solid state drives have become widely deployed and the number is growing, so there is need for standardized operational practices for SSD sanitization and destruction,” said Adamson. “I am excited to be a part of this task force to deliver an industry supported, realistic solution that addresses risk, security and costs for SSD asset retirement.”
Adamson has previously done magnetic hard drive data destruction research with the University of California-San Diego Center for Magnetic Recording Research (UCSD CMMR). He has also more recently been engaged with UCSD Non Volatile Systems Lab (NVSL) to study destruction and potential data recovery with SSDs.
