Los Angeles, CA, July 25, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Superior Grocers, one of Southern California’s largest independent supermarket chains, will participate in the upcoming Los Angeles Central Jazz Festival where it will also give a donation to two local schools. As a pledge to the continuous support of education and local communities, Superior Grocers is collaborating with Jan Perry, Councilwoman for the City of Los Angeles’ 9th Council district, to award $5,000 to two Los Angeles schools, South Park Elementary School and the Accelerated Charter Elementary School (ACES), each receiving a $2,500 grant.
A check presentation with Councilwoman Jan Perry and Superior Grocers’ executives will take place on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 12:00pm at the annual event located on Central Avenue at 42nd Street in South Los Angeles. The Central Avenue Jazz Festival, now in its 17th year, is an annual cultural event that celebrates and pays tribute to the contributions made by African Americans to Jazz in Los Angeles.
"It is extremely important to be connected with the community," said Mimi Song, President & CEO of Superior Grocers. “In addition to striving to make our customers’ shopping experience the best, we are also dedicated to serving the community. Throughout the year, we donate thousands of dollars to local schools. Superior will always be an active partner in the local community.”
For over 15 years, Superior Grocers and its foundation have raised over $2 million for many local elementary, high schools, and youth programs. Scholarships have been awarded to many schools and non-profit organizations in Southern California.
