Caprional Pharma to Present at GTCbio’s Rediscovering Biomarkers: Detection, Development & Validation Conference-July 23-24, 2007, San Diego
Monrovia, CA, June 23, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Daniel Chelsky, Chief Scientific Officer at Caprion Pharmaceuticals will present on Secreted Proteins as Biomarkers: Catching Them at the Source at GTCbio’s Rediscovering Biomarkers: Detection, Development & Validation Conference taking place on July 23-24, 2007 at the San Diego Marriott La Jolla in La Jolla, CA.
Identification of low abundance tissue-specific biomarkers can be achieved by analyzing proteins destined for export by the relevant tissue. Secreted proteins traverse the Golgi apparatus of the cell before being released to the outside. In the Golgi, these proteins are much more concentrated than in the blood and are therefore easier to detect and identify. By comparing the Golgi contents from tissue under different conditions, such as diseased and normal or drug treated and untreated, specific circulating markers can be successfully discovered.
GTCbio’s Rediscovering Biomarkers: Detection, Development & Validation Conference provides comprehensive coverage of a wide range of topics including Biomarker Application in Oncology Clinical Development, Drug Discovery, Development and Diagnostics of Biomarkers, Tools for Improving Measurement, Safety and Validation of Biomarkers, and Upcoming Technology and Trends.
