Urban Solar Awarded Orange County Solar Bus Light Contract

Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) selected Urban Solar’s PV-Signal for their bus stops. The PV-Signal is a solar powered LED lighting and bus signaling system which incorporates high intensity LED lighting.

Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) selected Urban Solar’s PV-Signal for their bus stops. The PV-Signal is a solar powered LED lighting and bus signaling system which incorporates high intensity LED lighting. Each PV-Signal delivers a safe waiting environment for riders, integrated low-profile, bus signaling capabilities and vandal-resistant attributes. Federal Transit Administration discretionary grant. The grant allows the agency to complete its Bus Stop Safety Program by installing additional solar lights at preselected bus stops throughout Orange County to improve the safety, security, and accessibility of the system. The incorporation of Urban Solar lighting at bus stops demonstrates the on-going efforts of OCTA commitment to the environment.

OCTA solicited proposals to secure solar lighting and bus signaling for bus stops to enhance passenger safety while integrating a sustainable environmentally friendly bus stop lighting solution. OCTA currently operates over thirteen hundred solar powered LED bus stops. Each solar bus stop contains a bus signal device which was a must-have feature for OCTA.

In 2003, a system wide bus stop survey was completed to identify potential safety issues and develop an ongoing plan to upgrade the approximately 6,250 bus stops. The result is the Bus Stop Safety Program. In 2011 OCTA received a
