Outskirts Press Announces the Publication of "Bretton-Katt Alliance." Debut Novel of Sci-Fi Series Chronicles Life and Galactic War in the 25th Century
Medford, OR, June 24, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Bretton-Katt Alliance: The Lorrondon Cycle is the first volume in a refreshingly well-crafted, new science fiction series. In Book One, readers are taken into the 25th century where two human species—the Neorans and the Terrans—live in an uneasy galactic peace that some in high places would wish to destroy.
On Planet Bowman IV, after a century-long alliance, Anna Lorrondon Helsak, the half-Terran, half-Neoran Chancellor has decided not to renew the treaty with the Neoran Confederation; but the Neorans need her support to maintain a firm footing against their rivals. As relations between Terrans and Neorans deteriorate, the story becomes focused around the explosive happenings in the Free City of Bretton Katt, the Neorans’ last hope for an ally in Terran space. In a desperate attempt to thwart Anna’s conspiratorial plans, her children side with the Neorans and Anna’s ex-friend, a beautiful alien named Rusorin, who becomes their closest ally. But do any of them have the power to prevent a war that could envelope the entire galaxy?
“On a January morning in 2441, Letsa Lorrondon drove her mother, Anna Helsak, Chancellor of the Bowman Pact, eighty kilometers through a snowstorm for a secret meeting. That same morning, in the city of Bretton Katt, police constables pulled the body of Geoffrey Slater from an icy creek. Few people knew of both events, and no one thought to connect them. Fifteen years later, Letsa (her family called her Lily) told her stepbrother Enrik Ratt that if she had known what was coming, she would have done anything to prevent it, even if it meant crashing the car into a tree.”
In this intriguing and suspenseful sci-fi novel, author Margaret Garside is far less interested in gadgets and battles—although there is a fair amount of both—than she is in the impact such things have on people’s lives. As The Bretton-Katt Alliance series continues, readers will find themselves in the midst of a galactic war, seeking to unravel the mystery behind the Lorrondon family’s closely guarded secrets. Ms. Garside lives in Oregon, in a place very much like the story’s North Coast Province. The Bretton-Katt Alliance series has been her passion for more than twenty years.
