Choosing Green Fulfillment
Jonano PACs "Green"
Chicago, IL, June 26, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Jonäno, a designer and manufacturer of sustainable organic apparel, is embarking this June on converting to greener fulfillment with a move to Planet Access Company (PAC), designed from the bottom up to be both environmentally friendly as well as socially responsible.
Planet Access Company provides paid work opportunities for more than 110 people with developmental disabilities annually via the PAC Work Crew Program, which compliments the paperless inventory and order fulfillment operation with environmentally sound choices such as choosing energy efficient machinery and lighting as well recycled packaging materials.
"We are attempting to lead by example by choosing a fulfillment center that is among the 'greenest' and most ethically responsible in the country," explains Bonnie Siefers, owner/designer of Jonäno. I'm thrilled to be working with Planet Access Company as they continue to be good stewards of the planet and offer work and leisure opportunities for developmentally challenged individuals," comments Ms. Siefers. "The Search Developmental Center, co-founded by PAC offers not just a work program, but also Outdoor adventures and vacations for the PAC Work Crew.”
Search Developmental Center (Search) is a community-based Illinois not-for-profit organization providing life skills training, 24-hour supportive residences, vocational services, community recreation, and access to medical care for more than 400 adults with developmental disabilities per year. Founded in 1968, Search provides professional, on-site care at its 31 program sites throughout Chicago, northern Cook County and Waukegan. Funding 8 trips for 50 people last year, recent getaways include a trip to the historic Appalachian Trail, the Grand Canyon, and the Powderhorn Dude Ranch in Colorado.
Jonäno’s choice of a green and socially responsible fulfillment center emphasizes their commitment to implementing environmental sustainability and social responsibility along every step of their path. Founded in 2005, Jonäno, a Pittsburgh-based company features Scandinavian-inspired modern organic clothing. For more information, visit www.jonano.com.
