New ACT App Brings Innovation to Facing Anxiety

New apps based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy are set to provide innovative and affordable relief for anxiety.

Brisbane, Australia, August 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- A brand new app and animation released today adds a funky edge to the psychological framework known as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and offers support to those experiencing anxiety.

The M!ndi apps and an animation, titled "Struggling with Internal Hijackers?" feature M!ndi, a strong-willed, pink-haired personal trainer for the mind, who reveals how to stop struggling with incessant unhelpful thoughts and feelings.

"Struggling with Internal Hijackers?" accompanies two free ACT-based apps for iPhones and PCs designed by MindEye Creations.

"Given that anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the United States, with more than 40 million adults being affected, apps like M!ndi provide a innovative and affordable medium to provide people with support," said James Golding, Director of MindEye Creations who led the development of the M!ndi apps.

"Our motivation behind the animation and free ACT-based apps is to make ACT accessible to everyone whether they are in therapy or not."

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a scientifically proven framework for increasing psychological flexibility. ACT has been shown to help clients cope with a wide variety of clinical problems including depression, anxiety, stress, substance abuse, and even psychotic symptoms.

"M!ndi is there to help people to quit mental struggling and do what is most important in life," James Golding said.

The M!ndi apps and "Struggling with Internal Hijackers?" animation took over 11 months to produce and were privately funded.

An Android version of the app will be released in coming months.
