From Hobby to Home Business: Local Doll Hospital Now Accepting Patients
Lansing, MI, August 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- In this tough economy, many hobbyists are looking for ways to turn their part-time interests into full-time home businesses. Monday's Child Doll Repair is one such business. Owned and operated by dollologist and doll doctor Val Donally, Monday's Child was launched through its website, www.doll-repair.com, earlier this year and is run from her home in Lansing, Michigan. Dr. Donally is a member in good standing with the National Doll Doctor's Association and the Michigan Chapter of the National Doll Doctor's Association.
Monday's Child specializes in the repair and restoration of vintage dolls from the 1950s through the early 1970s. General cleaning, hair styling and wig replacement, restringing, and repair of walking mechanisms are just some of the repair services offered. The doctor sees patient's by appointment only. You can schedule an appointment for your doll to be seen and evaluated for repair or restoration through the website at www.doll-repair.com or by telephone at 517-214-2069. Appointments are currently being scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Saturdays.
Dr. Donally has recently added a blog to the Monday’s Child’s website where she will post and answer questions about basic doll repair and collecting dolls. Anyone with questions about doll repair or collecting is encouraged to contact the doctor through her website at www.doll-repair.com.
In addition, Dr. Donally is also working on plans to expand the website to include merchant pages where do-it-yourself doll restorationists can purchase kits and materials to perform their own doll repairs. It is anticipated that this part of the website will be completed in late August 2012.
Future plans also include attendance in an intensive doll repair course where Dr. Donally will learn complete composition doll repair. In an attempt to raise money to defray the cost of the training, Dr. Donally is seeking donations through her fundraising page at www.gofundme.com/dollrepair. All donations will go specifically to fund the cost of the training. "I am excited about the possibility of being able to expand my repair services to include restoration of composition and antique dolls," says Dr. Donally. “There is a need for good doll doctors. Many doll hospitals have temporarily had to stop accepting dolls for repair because the demand is so great.”
