Wadsworth to Distribute Fluke Networks' New DTX Compact ODTR
London, United Kingdom, June 29, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Wadsworth, one of the UK’s leading distributors of networking and cabling products, is amongst the first companies in the UK to stock Fluke Networks’ new DTX Compact OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflector) fibre tester. Available immediately with guaranteed next day delivery, the tester will enable cable installers to fully test fibre networks with one, single affordable tool.
The DTX Compact OTDR is designed to plug directly into the back of a DTX-1800 CableAnalzer™, adding Tier 2 fibre certification which for the first time allows cable installers to test and certify mixed media jobs. By combining copper and fibre testing capabilities into one, easy to use product, the DTX Compact OTDR negates the need for additional specialised tools, saving money and increasing productivity.
“Companies want a network that can meet their needs now and into the future and it’s only through having a fully tested and certified installation that this can be guaranteed,” explained Simon Aldridge, Product Manager, Wadsworth. “As a result, installers need a tester that is easy to use, requires no or little training and can fully test all network environments. The new DTX Compact OTDR addresses all these needs by taking the already established DTX product and copper functionalities, and adding the advance features of ODTR fibre testing for an affordable price.”
The DTX Compact OTDR shoots and analyses traces on singlemode and multimode fibre at four wavelengths. This Tier 2 (Extended) fibre certification complements the DTX CableAnalzer™ ability to perform Tier 1 (Basic) fibre certification using the DTX fibre modules. The Extended test checks every connector and splice on a link to ensure the fibre cabling meets the defined specification. The DTX CableAnalyzer™ is the only test platform that completely certifies fibre and copper cabling to all standards.
“We want to ensure that our fibre installations will support both current and future applications for our clients,” said Tom Jordal, of Skyline Communications. “With the DTX CableAnalyzer, we can now assure our customers that the fibre cabling installation is rock-solid with Basic and Extended certification. When we certify the performance of every connector and splice, we know that the job meets our high quality standards and callbacks should be few and far between.”
The DTX Compact OTDR lets installers who are familiar with copper certification easily learn to perform Extended fiber certification. Users see the familiar DTX interface, test commands, stored setup values and expert diagnostics. This shortens the learning curve and extends the value of every DTX.
The DTX CableAnalzer™ Series is the world’s most widely used cable certification tool. Owners have found increasing use for their DTX CableAnalzer™ with the introduction of new test modules, including coax, patch cord, the Network Service Module and 10 Gigabit Alien crosstalk kit. The new DTX Compact OTDR continues to make the DTX CableAnalzer™ a platform that addresses growing customer needs.
