Arena Football Comes to Sarasota, FL
Sarasota Thunder has been announced as the latest expansion team in the Ultimate Indoor Football League bringing professional arena football to the city.
Sarasota, FL, August 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) today announced the Sarasota Thunder as the third expansion team for the 2013 Arena Football season. The Thunder will play their home games at Robarts Arena in Sarasota, FL when the season starts in Late February 2013.
The UIFL is entering its third season and has already proven to be a great success playing in front of huge crowds with a showcase of highly talented players. Arena Football is a fast and explosive game which is growing rapidly in popularity particularly in Florida. Other Florida based teams include The Florida Tarpons based in Ft. Myers who completed the regular season unbeaten in 2012 and the Raiders of Lakeland.
“Arena Football is an exciting game and we will provide the residents of Sarasota and the surrounding area with an opportunity to follow their own local team,” said a spokesman for the Thunder. “It is probably the most affordable professional sport to attend with ticket prices starting at just $7 giving a couple of hours of thrilling entertainment at less than the cost of seeing a Movie. We sincerely hope that the people of Sarasota will get behind the team and help us make Robarts Arena the toughest place in the league for visiting teams to play.”
The owners of the team fully expect to fill the arena for every home game and have high hopes for a winning season. Since the Thunder will play games in Lakeland and Fort Myers they are confident that they can also attract a loyal fan base willing to travel to many of the season’s away games.
Sarasota Thunder is committed to working in the local community and to ensuring that the team represents the city in the most favorable light both on and off the field. They are holding a press conference at Robarts Arena 3000 Ringling Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34237 on Thursday August 16th at 2pm. The press conference is open to local businesses and the public.
