One Beynon Surface - Eight Days of Competition - 47 Records
AAU Junior Olympics at Turner Stadium see 47 records fall on their Beynon surface over the eight-day competition.
Hunt Valley, MD, August 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Over the course of eight-days Turner Stadium and their state-of-the-art Beynon Sports track surface played host to the track and field portion of the AAU Junior Olympics. Turner Stadium not only houses Beynon’s IAAF certified BSS 1000 13mm track and field surface, but also includes a FieldTurf Revolution field, giving Turner Stadium two world class synthetic sports surfaces to train and compete on.
The inaugural AAU Junior Olympics were officially opened August 21, 1967, in downtown Washington, D.C., and hosted 523 athletes between two sports; swimming and track and field. Since the inception of the games, the number of sports and participants has evolved to huge numbers, with more than 20 sports and 16,000 participants.
This year alone there were over 700 different track teams and more than 4,000 athletes competing on Beynon’s BSS 1000 13mm track system at the AAU Junior Olympics. These remarkable athletes broke 47 records, some of which were set over 30 years ago.
“Witnessing the future of U.S. Track and Field breaking records, and having a great time competing on our Beynon track surface, is a beautiful sight to see,” said Bob Strano, Regional Sales Manager, Beynon Sports. “Not only can Beynon tracks be found in many of the world’s finest venues, propelling athletes to record breaking times, but Beynon is also making an impact at the grass roots level.”
The BSS 1000 13mm is an IAAF certified track system that allows athletes give their all at every practice and in every race. The innovative technology of the BSS 1000 includes a bio-engineered force reduction layer that integrates very fine SBR rubber with environmentally friendly polyurethane, to create an impermeable shock absorbing cushion that can help any level of athlete train hard and run fast times, while avoiding common track injuries such as SI mis-alignments.
