Beynon Sports and Oregon State University Turn Dreams Into Reality
Hunt Valley, MD, August 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- After five long years of planning and fundraising Oregon State University is finally in the home stretch and are steps away from being able to train and compete on their brand new Beynon Sports BSS 2000. In a day and age when everything is prefabricated and collecting dust waiting for a buyer, OSU opted to go with Beynon Sports. OSU wanted a hand crafted track surface that was made specifically for them and their needs, after evaluating all their options Beynon Sports was the only company that stood out from the pack.
"The reason we’re five years later is we decided instead of going for a less expensive process, we were going to shoot for the moon." - OSU coach Kelly Sullivan "That’s what we’ve done. We’ve gone with the best surface in the world and gone with the funds we’ve been able to raise" Yost, A (2012, July 15th). Track Dreams are a Reality. Corvallis Gazette Times. p. B3
The hand crafted track surface in question is the BSS 2000, the same surface that Oregon University has on Hayward Field. The BSS 2000 is grounded by a bio-engineered force reduction layer of butyl rubber and full depth color polyurethane, and provides the resilient response and maximum energy return needed for athletes to shatter records. To date the BSS 2000 athletic surface at Oregon University has hosted the U.S. Olympic Trials, U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Nationals and NCAA Division I Championships. Oregon State University has already secured the 2014 Pac-12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships and will be looking for many other high profile competitions to host.
"We can’t wait to see the records at OSU start to fall as their great athletes start to train and compete on their brand new BSS 2000." - Gary Logsdon, VP of Northwest Sales, Beynon Sports "Now when OSU athletes try to surpass their American greats like Tyson Gay, Allyson Felix or Ashton Eaton they will be able to do it on the best surface in the world."
The Pac-12 will see eight of the 12 teams in the conference competing on various outdoor Beynon surfaces in 2013. In 2012 alone, Oregon State University, Washington State University and the University of Washington all elected to go with Beynon Sports as their track surface of choice. Beynon Sports currently has more than 100 NCAA Division I schools competing and training daily on their state-of-art surfaces.
