8th Annual O’Jays Scholarship Fund Golf Outing and Banquet in Canton, OH on August 20, 2012

The dream began in Canton, OH and now Eddie Levert, Walter Williams, Sr., and Eric Nolan Grant, known collectively as The O’Jays, return to their hometown of Canton, OH to host the Eighth Annual O’Jays Scholarship Fund, August 20, 2012.
The celebration will kick off with The Annual O’Jays Scholarship Fund Celebrity Golf Tournament at the Rosemont Country Club in Fairlawn, OH with special guest celebrity golfers, nationally syndicated columnist and CNN analyst Mr. Roland S. Martin and Emmy Award-winning journalist Ed Gordon. Following the golf tournament, at 6:00 pm, the festivities conclude with the presentation of scholarship awards to the 2012 recipients at The Annual O’Jays Scholarship Awards Banquet at the McKinley Grand Hotel in Canton, OH.
This year’s recipients include Zachary Deion Sweat who is a graduate of McKinley High School planning to major in sports management and minor in communications at Ohio’s Notre Dame College; Victoria Sutton, a graduate of Timken High School that will be attending Bowling Green State University in pursuit of a career as an early childhood education teacher; N’Tori J. Smith, a graduate of Timken High School will begin her studies to become an athletic trainer at Muskingum University and Tanya Grimes who will attend University of Akron in pursuit of a career in nursing. The scholars will be honored and presented with scholarships by The O’Jays at the Banquet that will be emceed by Mr. Ed Gordon and Mr. Roland S. Martin.
2012 marks the eighth year since the inception of the scholarship fund with support of such contributors as The Timken Company, Aultman/Aultcare, Mercy Medical Center, Outback Steakhouse, Fifth Third Bank, The Timken Foundation, Steve and Sondra Perry, Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, UAW/Chrysler, GM/Spitzer Chevrolet of North Canton, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Mr. Roland S. Martin, Steve Harvey, Tom and Donna Joyner, Bill and Kim Allen and the Canton Negro Oldtimers Association. Each year Stark County residents – both traditional (high school seniors) and non-traditional (local community college attendees) students have received scholarships.
