P.E.I. Hosting Canada’s Largest National Track & Field Meet on Beynon
Royal Canadian Legion National Youth Track & Field Meet to be held at University of Prince Edward Island on Beynon Sports’ BSS 1000 surface.
Hunt Valley, MD, August 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The athletes started to arrive August 15th in preparation of the 2012 Royal Canadian Legion National Youth Track & Field meet which are being held August 17th to 19th in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island at the University of P.E.I. on the state-of-the-art BSS 1000 manufactured by Beynon Sports and installed by Playteck enterprises.
Athletics Canada has confirmed that 817 athletes will be competing, making this largest national athletics competition in Canada. This will be the first time the “Legions” will have been held in P.E.I. and it will mark the 37th annual staging of the event.
Numerous Canadian athletes have gotten their start competing at the “Legions” - athletes such as Jared Connaughton, who ran in the men’s 4x100 at the London Olympics, and narrowly missed out on a bronze medal.
The track for UPEI’s Alumni Canada Games features an eight (8) lane Beynon Sports’ BSS 1000 surface in addition to long jump, triple jump, pole vault and javelin runways. The BSS 1000 is the optimal surface for training and competing. Its bio-engineered force reduction layer integrates very fine SBR rubber with environmentally-friendly polyurethane to create an impermeable shock absorbing cushion. The result is a track & field surface unmatched by any other in the industry.
“Witnessing future Olympians competing on the same revolutionary track and field surface that current Olympic champions train and compete daily on is not only a feather in the cap for Beynon and Playteck, but also, a great example of how communities across the world are recognizing the importance of the track and field surface when it comes to the safety and the development of these future stars,” said Matt Auffrey, Owner of Playteck Enterprises.
