Taking a More Conscious Role in the Dying Process
Outskirts Press Announces the Release of Sacred Transitions, an End-of-Life Guide by Dr. Julie M. Milne
Northbrook, IL, August 25, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Sacred Transitions, published by Outskirts Press, is a must-read for those who have a loved one who is dying, and for all caregivers who work in end-of-life care—in hospice, nursing homes, and hospital facilities. Author Julie M. Milne, PhD, has over thirty years of experience in counseling, and her new book is both poignant and practical in providing guidance for the transition of death.
Dr. Milne presents the process of dying as an opportunity to heal wounded relationships, to forgive, and to express love. Imagine if we took as much time, care, and gentleness in preparing for death as we do to prepare for birth. With this approach, loved ones and healthcare workers can help those facing death make the transition in an atmosphere of love, peace, acceptance, and freedom rather than fear, anger, or resentment.
Written in two parts, Sacred Transitions begins with “The Journey into Death as Rebirth,” the compelling story of the journey Dr. Milne takes with her mother, especially the last ten months of her mother’s life. It’s a love story about the great exploration they took together to open a way for her mother’s soul to pass from one realm of life to another—in a conscious and sacred manner.
The second section is a handbook for family, friends, and caregivers, offering helpful suggestions and experiential information. It contains practical tips, innovative strategies, books and references to help prepare for the death and dying experience, including tips on staying positive, the facts about terminal dehydration, and self-care advice for the caretaker.
“Julie Milne’s Sacred Transitions empowers us to see beyond the physical loss of death into a beautiful and meaningful way of fully living life. In sharing her personal journey of being a midwife to her mother during her transition, she has paved a sacred path for us to follow. This book moved me to tears, lifted my heart with hope, and even more solidified the knowing that I have to not only live but to die consciously. This book is a treasure!” (Dr. Darren R. Weissman, Developer of The LifeLine Technique)
Sacred Transitions is an important and uplifting guide to dealing with the process of dying, and facing the transition from this realm to the next with love, compassion, and consciousness.
